How to change 3D package orientation?

A component on a PCB that has been imported from EAGLE should get replaced by a component in a different library (which is identical except the new part has a 3D model). The EAGLE design should retain the same part angle for backwards compatibility of the manufacturing files.

I replace the component from the schematic, but the new component shows up in the 2D PCB at an incorrect angle again. When I go back to the library to adjust the orientation of the 3D model by 90°, this change has no effect in the 2D PCB (orientation of the part is still in the same wrong direction, component used and its angle per 2D properties also is the same as expected, of course all files updated from saved library).

Any hints?

Hi @dev2EP8UX,

The issue is likely in the library. You would have to be able to compare the orientation of the 2D footprint in the original library and it's orientation in the new library. If they are different that would explain the difference you are seeing. Make sure that the 3D model is correctly placed in relation to the 2D footprint.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
