Hide profile comes from 3D PCB components

Hello there,

When I'm trying to create a shell for my PCB board, I found that if I place a sketch on the top of the PCB component, even after hiding that component, I can still see those profiles comes from the PCB components (for example those drill holes as shown in the picture)

This is good while creating sketches since I can align the shell with the PCB.

However, after finishing the sketch, before doing the extrusion, is there any way to turn off those profiles from PCB components? Otherwise, for example, if I need to extrude that highlighted profile, I still need to manually pick up all the small drill hole profiles which is very inconvenient.

Thank you for your help!

You should be able to just hide (eyeball icon) the sketch from the PCB.  If it is in an external design, you may have to edit that design (either in another tab in using Edit in Place) to turn off this sketch.

Hi,Jeff

Thanks a lot for your reply!

The PCB component is generated from the Eagle, I can't find any sketches within it (except a simple outline sketch).

Also, I find that all the drill profiles are from the solder mask (Picture 1)

In picture 2, I already hide the solder mask (and entire PCB component)

However, after I create the sketch as shown in picture 2, when I try to select a profile from that sketch to do an extrusion, those drill profile from PCB components shows again...(Picture 3)

Hi @csun8086 ,

When you select a face and create a sketch, all of the edges of the face will be projected onto the sketch automatically. So the drills are actually invisible circles on the sketch of the shell design.

You can edit the sketch named "Bottom", select all circles you don't need and delete them. Then Finish sketch.

Thanks a lot, Richard! That solved my problem!

=== To whom that may also encounter the same problem ===

As said by Richard, as long as not use the PCB face to create the sketch, the profiles from PCB will not be there when doing the extrusion. (although you will not able to use those profiles in the sketch as well...)

For example, if using the origin plant to create the sketch:
