Fusion 360 Electronic & Library.io search issues

Hi folks, I'm a newby to Fussion360 Electronics, I can't seem to find anything in the libraries! I have an existing project in EasyEDA that I want to redo in Fusion 360 in order to create an enclosure. I don't mind redrawing the PCB but I can't change the hardware, so I need to find suitable existing library items. I fully understand that I may have to create some of my own components but my initial search for some very basic item is returning nothing. Is there some special format required for the search string other than the standard * etc? For example I need to find an 'ADS1115' analog to digital converter board', I have tried 'ads1115', 'ADS1115', '*ADS1115', '*1115'. Nothing seems to find anything, the same with an 'NE8FAH' standard Neutric Ethercon connector. or a PA_DIN_5_FEMALE Midi connector or a '1/4 stereo jack'. A standard google search for any of these things returns thousands of hits. Searching Library.io is even more confusing returning part numbers with no relation to the search criteria. What am I doing wrong please?

In short, no, there is no way that I know of to search within the individual libraries in the Library Manager. It is slightly comical in my view. You can search for a specific library if you already know its name. But you can't search for a part in order to locate the libraries that host that part. As the number of libraries increase this becomes increasingly useless.

You may as well not have the pre-defined libraries at all if you can't search them. They are almost (not quite, yet) useless.

Hi @simon28STPM,

I hope you're doing well, welcome to the forums! How many libraries do your currently have active. I generally recommend in addition to the libraries we ship with by default to include all of the libraries we shipped with EAGLE. I did take a look and I did not see the ADS1115, so this is a part you will have to build yourself (preferably) or find through a site like SnapEDA or ultralibrarian.

@simon28STPM You can always put all the libraries into use, then you would be able to search for the part you are looking for.

@jorge_garcia2 - Two issues with this: First, as I mentioned, there are now lots of libraries. And as far as I can tell there is no way to batch 'use' a bunch of libraries in one go. You have to step through each library, one at a time which is a complete PITA (oh and this reminds me that deleting multiple library entitiesfrom a library is equally painful). Second you then have an over-crowded component add window.

This is why I say the libraries are ALMOST useless. You can kind of make it work, with patience and tenacity, but I have a cloud connected computer under my fingers, connected to an online DB repository. Why can't that take the strain off for me so that I can get back to my schematic? Hopefully you guys are planning improvements in this area.

Hi @jonrbloom ,

I hope you're doing well. So the first issue is already addressed. If you go into the library manager you can filter the list down to the libraries you are interested in enabling. Left click the first library, then hold shift and select the last library. You'll see they all highlight and then click the enable library icon, they will all enable. Try it and let me know if you run into.

For the second issue of an overcrowded component window, that will continue to be improved but some forthcoming panel work will alleviate the real estate issues you and other customers have been seeing.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
