Error: Could not open footprint

Hi,

I get an error when trying to open a footprint of a component that is in my PCB design.

My guess is that this is because it is from a local library. But, since Fusion 360 seems to have no problem adding components from local library's, I'm thinking it might be something else (or this is a major flaw in the design of the software).

How can I fix this? I prefer a local library because I use SamacSys (see my other post here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-electronics/can-i-use-the-samacsys-library-loader-with-fus...).

Thanks in advance.

Hi @kschepens,

I hope you're doing well. See my response to this thread:

The local copy is cached and protected they are not really made to be modified there directly.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

So are you saying that even though you can use local libraries, you can't?

If that's the case, then why offer the possibility to open local libraries? Or am I missing something?

Hi @kschepens,

You open local libraries but when you save them they become Fusion cloud assets. The local library is only used to be able to get it into the Fusion environment. Fusion works with cloud data it never writes back to the local library unless you do an export operation.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
