Electronic design schematic hierarchy

I’m looking for example schematics, PCB layouts, and documentation that demonstrate hierarchical design in Autodesk Fusion 360. Could anyone share resources or examples that illustrate how to effectively use hierarchical design in a project?

Hello @deepak_elango,

I hope you're doing well. The best example (IMO) of hierarchical design is the attached adder design. It's schematic only but it illustrates nesting and is a good application of hierarchy. Unzip the directory and check out the adder design.

Let me know if you have any questions.

How do change the designators of the components on the PCB? Because the more deeper the hierarchy the longer the designator gets.

Hi @Dotplot_co ,

I hope you're doing well. The best you can do is use prefixes for the module names. That will limit how many characters each layer of hierarchy adds to the reference designator. At this point in time there's no way to shorten or adjust the reference designators on the 2D PCB, this would be an improvement for hierarchy.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
