Drag, drop, move, edit components not working

I am on windows 10, trying to place and move around a few electronic parts.

I click on the part, it doesn't select, then I use select tool, it works once, then stop working.

I click on move part, doesn't select anything.

Is this the expected behavior ? The software is basically unusable.

The behavior appear 100% random

So apparently I need to click within a few pixels of the "+" sign at the center of a component or else it won't move.

Still doesn't work in the printed circuit board environment tho.

The "+" sign on the mosfet is barely visible, I had to search for a few minutes, this isn't user friendly.

Hello @jesse_aumond-beaupre2,

For now you must select components by their handles. With that said we are working on improving this experience and the fruits of that labor will be out very soon.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hope this is a good place to ask the following question:

For some reason in the electronics design I'm currently working on I can not get the handles of the components to appear, hence I can not select/move the components. I can select and move everything else like the Attributes, tracks, via's, whatever, but not the components. I have used the inspector selection filter many times, always works, still works on all my other designs (so it is not a problem in a Fusion setting i guess), but not on this one design (so must be a problem in the drawing setting somewhere?). Also selecting it with the mouse by dragging a box over it does not work.

What works is that I can dubbel click on the component's name in the design manager to open the properties of that component, and then change the numbers in the position boxes, but this is very cumbersome.

Did I accidentally make the components "unselectable" somehow? Tried everything, can not see it.

Help would be much apreciated.

Could you please check in the "Display Layers" Toolbar, if you have layer 23 (tOrigin) and layer 24 (bOrigin) enabled. Only with these layers enabled, you are able to select and move the component.

Hi Lars, thank you so much for this tip. It has definitely something to do with layer 23 (tOrigin) and layer 24 (bOrigin). Strange thing is that in the "Display Layers" Toolbar both layers are set to "visible", but they do not appear in the "Selection filter" list, reason why they are not selected when I do "Select all". Under the selection filter right bottom is a [Reset] button, but clicking this button also do not make both layers appear in the list.
For now I can work because when I switched the "visible" of tOrigins off and back on, the handle appeared in the green color of the layer (normally the handle is a white cross hair), so this way I can set/reset the handle which is a good work-around for now. If you happened to know how I can get both layers to appear again in the selection filter list, that would be great, but thanks so far for your help.

Hi @tonyXTMAY,

I hope you're doing well. The origins layers don't appear in the selection filter, since they are in fact controlled by it. Normally a reset of the selection filter would solve it but in this case it seems you had to do something extra.

Glad that you are up and running again.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
