Dollar ($) sign in reference designator / prefix of custom components

How do I remove the annoying dollar sign in between the prefix and the number of a custom component of a library? What I mean by that, is that when I design a symbol / footprint in a custom library, I put a text stating >NAME on the drawing and set a custom prefix in the component creator so that, hopefully, when I use the symbol, it is seen as, for example: U1, U2, U3, etc. However, instead, they are being shown as: U$1, U$2, U$3, etc. How do I prevent this dollar sign from being there? I know it is possible to do as the components of the default libraries don't have this symbol.

Hi @1900745KYKTT,

The $ is used to indicate that a built-in default has been used.  If you are seeing U$ that means that in the component editor the PREFIX has not been set. Now if you have fixed the PREFIX but the part has already been used in the design, those components will not update their names just because you fixed it in the library.  Any pre-existing parts with U$ will have to be renamed manually.
