Does Fusion Team deprecate library.io?

Since Fusion Team now allows for component-libraries to be stored and versioned inside of projects, am I correct in assuming that in the long run library.io will be deprecated? I have been trying to find information on the planned direction of those developments, since for me as a professional user it is quite important to know what to invest time in, and what to ignore. At the moment, I lose quite a bit of time with updating libraries in Fusion360 and then still needing to upload to library.io.

Hi @bjordanZSMCK ,

I hope you're doing well. The short answer is NO.

Library.io is a publishing platform.  It allows us to provide public data for any fusion users to consume when making boards.  For those just placing parts from our libraries, or one of our publishers libraries, library.io is the way to go.  Once you want to create your own library, or make edits on another library, you must move into the fusion team space.  From in fusion, you can publish changes from fusion team to library.io, when you are ready for others to consume it.

Library.io has a big advantage over Fusion Team in the sense that you are not just limited to a hub. With library.io it's possible to make assets that EVERY user could potentially benefit from. It still has a lot of potential and we will continue to develop it.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
What about local library that includes device, symbol, footprint and 3D model?

Where can I look to see how you recommend my libraries be set up?  I really need to clean them up because I'm starting to see conflicts and issues.  I started years ago with local libraries and eagle (we have our own libraries that, in some cases are just adaptations of autodesk libraries and in other cases are fully custom), then moved to Library.io and now Teams.  I see what you're saying about the library.io, but if I'm not publishing outside my organization, is there any need to have our libraries in library.io?

Hi @robert1356,

I hope you're doing well. You don't have to keep libraries in library.io if you don't want to. If you are fully Fusion 360 then you can work in Fusion Team.

We are working to consolidate these systems to simplify the mental model.

In the meantime this video can give you some good points for organizing your libraries.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
