cross probe placement from schematic to pcb

Is there still no feature to click a part in the schematic and have it ready for move and placement in the pcb editor?

@eric_engineer , the following command will do the trick:

run select-sch-group-to-brd-group.ulp

That didn't do anything for me.

You need to have both schematic and pcb open and then select a part before running the command.

okay after it crashed and I came back in it says "multiple profiles defined. Edit the sketch to create a single profile"

This message should be from 3D PCB environment. It's a different problem than cross probing between schematic and 2D PCB. The message means the application cannot detect the outline automatically because there are two closed outline regions.

Ah okay. That's what I want to do cross probe from schematic to pcb. It is a much more efficient way to place parts.

I’ll only add that this is currently slated for work next year.  We will get more details and of course it’s subject to change but this is something we prioritized knowing the value of these small but powerful enhancements to workflow. @jd.vorheis
