Create New component from .brd file.

Hello,

I have a .brd file (attached) that is the trace of an NFC antenna on PCB.

I would like to tranform this (the traces only is fine)  into a library component.

How do I tranform this .brd file into a library component?

The zip folder contains all the other files provided by the manufactures (NXP) if they can be useful.

thanks,

Leo

In the board editor, highlight all of the traces to be included in the footprint with a box selection. Click copy from the toolbar, right-click on the canvas and select copy group. After you copy the group, don't click to place any instances just select okay from the dialog box to close it. Your geometry will be stored on the clipboard.

Go into your library and create a new footprint. Paste the traces.

The vias will not copy over because they are considered "unsuitable objects" in the context of the footprint editor. You may be able to cheat the system and place plated thru-holes and adjust the sizes to match your via definitions but I honestly haven't tried so I'm not sure the feasibility. But at the very least you can store the trace definitions that way and if you do the thru-holes, that would provide you the option to define them as signal connection pins for routing on the board.
