Copper slotted hole?

Before I waste my money and time can someone please elaborate on this tutorial.  Its not clear that this will actually work.  Is there anyone who has had success doing this.  People have been asking for a slot pad feature for years and it still does not exist in either Fusion or Eagle.  Do these requests ever get considered beyond a nod on the forums?

Alright I figured it out by copying another footprint I had in my old Eagle Library.  The link above showing the way to do it actually didn't work for me.  The idea is you have to make the via pad thickness bigger than your slot by a bit.  Also setting the pad to long worked.  The guide shows the via diameter within the drawn slot which actually wont work.

Check out my screenshot of what worked.  disregard the polygon fill its not needed.  You basically just make a massive via with a pad bigger then your drawn slot with a hole smaller then the slot you drew.

This should work?This should work?Looks right?Looks right?

Correct me if I'm wrong but this should work?

Looks great! For you particular application you don't need the extra rectangular polygon but it won't hurt.

Did you ever have this manufactured? Did the pads come out like you expected? When I tried to render mine, the 3d viewer doesn't come up like yours.

Hi @deaN.WOOSLEY7WB78 ,

I hope you're doing well. We know that currently there is a lot of inconsistency between the various views of the 2d PCB, 3D PCB, Manufacturing Preview, etc. This is something we are working on.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
