Component package not displaying in 3D PCB after Footprint change

I have a component I created in my own library.  It worked fine, displaying properly in the schematic, 2D PCB and 3D PCB.  After discovering an error in the footprint I updated the footprint and saved the update in the component library. After updating the library I went into my project PCB and selected "Replace" so I could update the component to the new version.  The footprint updates properly, but after updating the 3D PCB the package is gone.

Is this the correct procedure or is this a bug?  I can't seem to get the package to reappear.

Thanks,

James

Hi @mrjdmcd

I hope you are doing well!

Thanks for reporting this issue to us! I can reproduce this issue and I have reported it to our develop team.

I will keep you updated when we fix this issue.

I also find a workaround for this issue. Instead of using Replace command, you can use Update Design from library/all libraries in design command to update the parts you have changed.

And for those no-package parts you have replaced, you can delete them and add the new version of those parts again, then view 3D PCB again. Those parts will show up well. Please have a try, thanks!

Sorry again for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the update.  Based on what you've suggested I've found another work-around due to another problem I encountered.  If after doing the "Update design from all libraries in the design" you go to the component on the PCB, right-click and select "Package" then close and view the 3D PCB, then the package appears (even after having previously done the "Replace").

The new problem I encountered that lead me to that solution is that after deleting the component and re-adding it, I couldn't drag the component onto the board, even after deleting traces and moving other components in the way.   It's a rather large component with vias on a thermal pad.  Maybe these vias are preventing the placement?

In any case, my problem is fixed.

And by the way my daughter likes your name.  I asked my wife what "Panpan" was and my daughter told me what it was 🙂

Thanks!

Hi @mrjdmcd

Thanks for your feedback! I am glad that you have solved your problem.

For the drag issue, I guess it may be caused by the feature - Push and Shove.

You can try to change the mode to Ignore Violators mode in the navigation bar.

Also thanks your daughter for liking the name😁

Hi @mrjdmcd

Today we release Fusion 360 V2.0.10027 and now the package can show well when you change footprint and repalce the part.

Please have a try, thanks!
