Can Fusion detect when a file has been updated in Eagle?

This is probably covered in documentation or on this forum, but I've not found it after an admittedly brief search.  I have a board file from Eagle which I've pulled into Fusion in order to generate a 3D output -- the design is too large so it times out when trying to export a STEP from within Eagle.  Later, after the .BRD file has been changed in Eagle and I go back into Fusion, it would be nice if Fusion detected the change and prompted me to upload the new version.  It does this with libraries already.  Instead, I manually choose "Upload new version", but this doesn't actually treat it as a new version, but rather as a completely new file so that now I have both old and new sitting next to each other in Fusion.  Pretty clunky, so I'm hoping I'm missing something.  Any suggestions?  Thank you!

Hello @scott ,

You have not missed anything. We don't really have a workflow where Fusion is just used to generate the step model by uploading EAGLE files.

A question for you, is there any reason you are not using the Fusion/EAGLE bridge to generate a 3D PCB in Fusion? Then within Fusion you can just export the step model without having to upload the EAGLE files. That seems like it would be an easier approach.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi @jorge_garcia,

I'm not sure what you mean by "Fusion/Eagle bridge".  Could you please clarify?

Thanks,

Scott

Hello @scott

See the attached screenshot

Look at the three icons on the right side of the screen. The middle one let's you push the 2D PCB to Fusion and create a 3D PCB. From there you can push to Fusion and then generate the step model.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi @jorge_garcia,

Turns out I have tried this once before.  It takes a long time push to Fusion, and then one still needs to launch Fusion to export to STEP.  The bigger problem is that it's really clunky to select which parts to include and which to exclude.  Unlike in Fusion, there's no way to include or exclude all, filter, include or exclude visible like in Fusion.  Instead, each one has to be checked or unchecked separately, which is super-tedious for a large design.  So, I think I'll stick with pulling the design into Fusion from Fusion, and delete the files when I'm done.

Thanks,

Scott
