3D models of parts are misplaced on generated 3D PCB in Fusion 360

When I'm trying to generate 3D PCB board from schematic and 2D board from within Electronic Design in Fusion 360, all the 3D models of parts are misplaced from their footprint.

When I'm generating same 3D PCB by pushing it to Fusion360 from standalone Eagle, everything is placed correctly.

Using Fusion 360 v. 2.0.7438 and Eagle 9.5.2.

Same for me - I thought it was my error, but have given up using Fusion Electronics currently because of the huge pile of dependency stuff.

I am facing the same problem. After I created a device in a custom library and placed the part in my project it is misplaced even if the footprint and the 3d modell is exact aligned in the library.Library_Package.JPG3d_pcb.JPG

This happens when you mirror a connector in 2D view. Workaround: Mirror in 3D, and update. Then do some refresh in 2D. It's 80% reproducable, but I still consider it a bug or at least a "surprising behavior"

same thing happened to me yesterday when I was playing around. added a block of components to schematic. Placed them roughly where I want them on the PCB. Then added more to schematic and noticed that those components ended upp misaligned on the PCB. The first ones was still correct aligned

Same here, without mirroring! I think I'll have to go back to KiCAD because of the big amount of bugs and problems in the workflow. This is not okey for a released product. It can't even have been beta-tested before release?

Unfortunately it happens to me without any mirroring, I have just tried to add some resistors, capacitors and pinhead to schematic, then only to move all the parts to be inside the board dimensions and then generate 3D PCB... again everything is misagligned...

The "mirroring" effect I reported probably was misleading. I restarted from scratch (how many times already, I don't know), and everything was nicely aligned. Then I did the following (guaranteed no additional steps):

  • Deleted link to 3d PCB (hoping that some minor glitches could be resolved
  • Displayed 3d board

Now everything was misaligned. No way back, in 2D nothing was changed. Quite a bit of work to do for the developers.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for posting up so many examples. Our developers are looking into this.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hello,

Here is the same problem at my customer: wrong placed parts on 3D.

Do you have any news about that problem?

Have you tried with the latest version that came today? There is no mentioning in the "Changes", but I have not seen the incorrectly place items (still experimenting, so open to modification)

I also have no problem with misplacement in the latest version 2.0.7463. Looks like devs solved this issue.

Hello @dieter.menne,

I hope you're doing well. Let's explore a possibility here that hasn't been touched on.

Go into the library and look at how you have the 3D Package mapped. When you go into the 3D package you'll see the outline of the footprint in construction lines. What happens if you move the 3D model to be mirrored on the footprint?

It's hard to explain but if you think about it, inside the 3D package editor it's not perfectly clear which way is up relative to the footprint. Might the model be mapped upside down?

I know it's difficult to transmit what I'm suggesting so if it's not clear just let me know and I'll try to explain it further.

Thank for your suggestion. These are not home-made library parts, but rather standard connectors from the library, so I do not fully understand how to flip these in the read-only library. In the spririt of you message, I flipped one resistor R1 in the image - works fine. And I flipped one connector, if I understood you correctly, it should be aligned with the pad, but no way.

And note that I could switch between correct and wrong simply by doing a unlink/rebuild as explained above. If there were something wrong in the library, that should be always the case or never.

In my case, to test this behaviour, I was only using parts from libraries included in Fusion after clean install... Resistor, Capacitor etc..

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the additional feedback. I'll bring this up to the devs again since it shows that the idea of a mirrored mapping isn't the problem.

Jorge,

Oddly enough, the parts that I place from standard libraries that do have their 3D packages positioned properly on the 3D PCB do not show the 3D package correctly oriented with the footprint when you open the package in the library.

There seems to be a disconnect between the libraries and the generated 3D PCBs.

Hi all,

same problem with the latest version.

As you can see the problem happens with standard components (pin) and with custom (resistor)

The components are from a managed library in library.io
