Using Fusion 360 Electronics to panelize a design

I know this is not really a new topic. There have been other similar questions, and even a few feature requests to add automatic panelization into Fusion 360 Electroonics.

There is a video referenced in one "solution" - the panelize.ulp script. This video shows how to use panelize.ulp to create the reference designators in layers 124 and 125, but does that even work anymore since Fusion 360 has renamed the layers?

And in that video, copies of the original design are created but there are no handling rails created, no v-score lines, not break-away tabs. How does panelization work when Fusion 360 wants a closed polygon in the BoardOutline layer? Can I create multiple closed polygons in the BoardOutline layer without Fusion 360 having problems?

I'm looking for success stories in panelization.

Hi @anthonyEX9NB ,

So panelization continues to be a manual process in Fusion. There are tickets and planning going on for proper panelization but this is still a ways out. Thanks for reporting the breaking of the panelize.ulp, this is definitely the result of the new layers. A key part of the panelization process is to disable the board shape detection, otherwise you'll see that having the multiple board outlines in the same file can confuse Fusion. Once you have the copies in the file then you can use the drawing tools to create the tabs and handling rails. Most board houses want v-score lines on their own layer and in a separate gerber file.

In short it is possible to do it but it's a manual process.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
