Single net class, multiple route widths?

Hello,

How to solve situation like this:

  • There is power signal with current of couple of Ampers, so route's width must be huge.
  • To protect myself against assigning too narrow route, I created net class "power" and assigned large width and clearance.
  • ... but I need junctions to low power devices, like LEDs etc

Is there any way to make exceptions to make such exceptions? If not, should I not using net classes?

Good approach to use a different net class for the VCC.

You can route your tracks with the width as specified in the net class.

For the junctions you can choose a different width during routing. To allow this, check in the bottom of you screen Ignore violators (shortcut Alt+i). After routing the junctions enable (if wanted) the push violator again (alt+p).

After routing and running the DRC you will get wire error's on the junctions because they don't meet the required width according the net class.

With the button approve you can disable the DRC error. Pay attention that you disable the correct DRC error.
