schematic and board not consistent and common library unavailable

Hi Apologies for asking the same questions again. I am new to Eagle and Fusion 360. I have just exported my schematic and board files from DipTrace to Eagle. I made sure the sch and brd were consistent with no ERC or DRC errors before exporting. The files have custom components in them that are stored in libraries in DipTrace.

When I export the files and upload to a Fusion 360 project and link them I get two issues.

1. Inconsistent board and schematic files. Image attached. All my components are inconsistent. Here is an example consistency error:

Part J1 has inconsistent footprints in schematic and board (Female_SMT_8-PIN_CONNECTOR from common.lbr / ..)

2. When I view libraries and click on 'In Design' tab, the common has a warning triangle (library unavailable).

I would be very greatful for support in helping fix consistency errors and get my libraries setup correctly.

This is my most simple PCB to convert from DipTrace to Fusion and I have lots more to convert and going forward continue in Fusion.

Regards, James

Hi @james.mcgovernNHGSY ,

I'm not super familiar with Diptrace but If I had to guess they don't have the forward/backward consistency mechanism that Fusion 360 has and it's likely that the PCB libraries are different to the ones in the schematic though they have the same name. Getting them into Fusion will likely require looking at the libraries exported from Diptrace and see if they can be consolidated.

Without playing with the files I would suspect that the effort will be greater than just starting the design over.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hello Jorge, thanks you for your reply. It appears that in converting the DipTrace schematic and layout to Eagle format, the components got linked to a library that it called common.lbr. As I had not this library in my Fusion360 setup, Fusion threw up errors when loading both schematic and layout. I have three options here:

1. Create a library called common.lbr with all the necessary components in it of all the schematics I plan to convert and upload to the teams manager.

2. Edit the xml of the schematic and layout and change the component library path to point to the relevant libraries that would contain the components.

3. Go through the schematics and replace the components with the ones in my librares.

Thanks, I think I understand my situation a bit more. I have more work to figure out how to bring in 3d models of these next.

Regards, James
