Saving Schematic

Has anyone found a workaround for the saving schematics issue?

I made a lot of changes to a schematic last night and forwarded them to the PCB, laid out the PCB and when I was done I systematically went through and saved everything, the left Fusion open for 10 minutes to give it time to sort itself out. I got the normal crash on exit but the preview window had the schematic in it's latest revision and all looked well.

Got to work this morning and opened the project and 90% of the changes I made to the schematic didn't save and now I have numerous consistency errors. Trying to work backwards from the PCB and making sure all the net names as well as components match is very time consuming, more so than the original layout!

Cheers

Hi James,

Thanks you for participating on the forum, we really appreciate it. Has this happen to you on other designs or only this design? Do you remember if in those 10 minutes your computer went to Sleep/powersave/screensaver mode?

Hi Ed,

I was only working on one project but I've just created another one and it still crashed, that was after creating a project, schematic, PCB and 3D PCB.

I've suspect it may be something to do the the 3D PCB, if I create a project with just a schematic and PCB it closes just fine. A quick test suggests the schematic saving is fine as well. I will investigate this further when I have some time.

Scrap that, after being open for 5 minutes on just a project, schematic and 2D PCB it crashed on exit.

Is there a chance this is being caused by an imported 3D package or something corrupt in the library?

I'm also utilising 3D packages I'd created with library.io should all these be imported/created locally within Fusion now?

I'll persist a bit more for the time being 🙂

Cheers

James

Hi @Spragnut,

I hope you're doing well. By any chance are you using Bommer? We've found that it interferes with the operation of electronics for the time being.

If the number of consistency errors is large and you just started the layout the best option may be to delete the current board and just start over.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi Jorge,

I'm not using Bommer, I noticed that suggestion in another thread but it's not something I've ever used.

I'll persist for the time being, I'm taking a more methodical approach to libraries in case something is corrupt/broken. Once done I was planning on restarting the project just to be on the safe side.

If the problem presents itself again I'll update this thread.

Just to update this further, I spent the whole evening re-creating all the footprints and storing the "locally" in Fusion. Started a new project, admittedly I did import the existing schematic but updated all the components. Created a new board following the new guide. Placed all the components, checked the 3D output, tweaked some things saved and got another crash.

Loaded back up and one consistency error due to a 3D package, fixed that, or at least I thought I did, updated everything, saved and closed Fusion... crashed again.

Might need to put this on the back burner until the bugs are ironed out, going to go even more grey at this rate!!

Not sure if it is related, but I have had a few crashes in the short time I have been evaluating the F360 Eagle resulting in lost changes.

I am just fiddling around with copies of projects so it has no impact, but I would like gain some confidence that a real project won't experience any setbacks in the future.
