rename project files

i created a new project today.

as before (the most recent update??) the design tab shows the schematic, PWB and both sides of the 3d PWB.

there is also a list of the various files, in addition to the data panel. it lists the design, the schematic, etc, and little black arrows to show the pages of the schematic, the board, and the top and bottom of the 3d PWB.

what is the purpose of listing the files in the data panel and immediately to the right of the data panel?

the PWB and the 3dPWB are not in the data panel, which i suppose is okay.

the problem is that i cannot rename the various files
the PWB and the 3d PWB are not both PWB. i tried to rename the 3d PWB but could not.

i want it to be 3D PWB.

kindly let me choose nd change the file names

Hi @wwfeldman,

I hope you're doing well. Generally all of the files appear together unless you are referencing from other projects. Could you post a picture of the setup, because something here is not adding up for me.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

the screenshot above shows the design, the schematic, the PWB and the 3D PWB in the data panel.

i can right click on any of the things in the data panel and rename them.

and while i'm here, what is the box about "update project type" about?

my search found a lot of stuff, but did not help.

the screenshot below shows the design, and the schematic, but NOT the PWB and the 3D PWB, in the data panel.

yesterday, right clicking did not give the option to rename. today, it does.

both screenshots show a file list to the left of the previews and to the right of the data panel.

what is that and what is it for?

Hi @wwfeldman,

I hope you're doing well. Fusion has updated projects that now offer more control over sharing files with others. If you don't anticipate to be collaborating with others there's no rush to upgrade the project type.

The second design is referencing a 3D PCB and 2D PCB that are located in a different location, that's why they don't show up in the data panel. Think of the data panel like a file browser. The list to the right of the data panel, is the list of documents that are linked to the current electronics design, this is the more important list.

Do you recall where you saved the 2D PCB and the 3D PCB? If you do, you can always move them so that everything is together in one place.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

i created the PWB and the 3D Model using the icons in the schematic and the PWB, respectively.

if i did a save as, its completely out of my memory.

microsoft save as shows the current path and allows changing the path and the name,

so i did do a save as on the two tabs in question. the the software came up with the correct path.

i saved them. now all 4 show up in data panel
