Push to 2D PCB

What does this command make?

I have a 3d PCB I tried to modify its board outline in 3D. I just made a circle in the PCB center and then I thought When I push it from 3D to 2D, in 2D editor I will have a hole. I t was done on the board outline sketch. This does not work.

Another method there is direct command in 3D, PCB modify a way to add a Hole, fine I defined a diameter and it is visible in 3D view , but When I do Push to 2D, it does not work. 2D board is not modified I thought it can transfer it to the dimension layer, what defines the board outline. But not.

Does this work ???

Hello @christopher2KLSVU,

When you modify the 3D PCB, does the 3D PCB actually change?  When you edit the 3D PCB board outline and add a hole to it, you then have to reselect what parts of the sketch actually define the outline. Did you do this second step?

If you don't and push back to 2D then you'll get the result you are seeing.

If you want to post a quick screen capture of the procedure you are following then that will help, figure out where it's going astray.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

As i mentioned already in an other thread "https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-electronics/push-to-3d-works-push-to-2d-doesn-t/td-p/11856..."

Had the same issue here... pushing 2d to 3d works fine, 3d to 2d not...

I think the reason is that outlines in 2d context are marked as "locked", "fixed" or "blocked" i do not remember exactly..

If you uncheck this in the 2d context (right click on an outline->you get the properties, there you can uncheck this) and then push from 3d to 2d it works for me.

You have to do it each time before you push from 3d to 2d...

Maybe it has the same reason....

@jorge_garcia  the 3d board was modified after using hole insertion, after reworking the outline sketch it did not update the 3d board. But I skipped a second step which you have mentioned.

I will try both Jorge and @xpuipc  suggest ion on Monday. Thanks a lot and have a good weekend

When you edit the 3D PCB board outline and add a hole to it, you then have to reselect what parts of the sketch actually define the outline.

How do I make it? I am in sketch editor, how to assign kind of board outline attribute to the lines on sketch? Mouse right click? I do see nothing.

@xpuipc  The board outlines in 2D editor are not "locked", they are free.

I solved it. I had in the board center at x,u (0,0) some componnets which probably blocked pushing from 3D to 2D. I moved this parts from 2D PCB center, out of the board and then I pushed from 3D to 2D. Now it is done. Probably the reason was that something was within the area where new hole was  foreseen. Some error conflict warning message would be very useful.

Hey @christopher2KLSVU  & @xpuipc ,

I'm over on the product management team 👋

Thanks so much for participating on the forums! I agree, the current MCAD driven board outline workflow is a little confusing and I want to understand your perspective & experiences using this more deeply. I'll DM you both now, but wondering if we could set up a quick slot in the coming weeks to discuss this further.
