PCB - Trim component leads in PCB 3D model

Hi,

I've some components which have long leads > 20 mm,  in the manufacturers STEP models.  The leads stick down too far in the 3D model and when included in the overall mechanical model with the PCB enclosure they protrude through it.   Please see the attached image of the basic 3D PCB model.   I have tried various ways to select and cut the leads with a rectangle on an offset plane.

I would have thought that this was a common requirement and there should be a straightforward way to crop the component leads.  How do I do this, please?

Thanks in advance.

Hello @robert_martinLFTEX,

I hope you're doing well. What I've done in the library to shorten the leads is use the extrude(Push Pull) command set to cut and extruded away the length of pins. It's better to do it in the library, because generally speaking the 3D PCB should only contain the 3D PCB. I think if you add it into an assembly then you could do this at the assembly level.

@TrippyLighting Since you are more fluent in Fusion mechanical than I am, do you have any suggestions about how pins could be shortened in the 3D PCB? See the above picture.

That cannot be done as the 3D PCB is exclusively driven by the schematic and board layout.

The menu for the 3D PCB does not offer any of the "normal" modeling tools for geometry:
