Parts on second schematic sheet are not available on PCB.

Had a main schematic of a basic version and was able to design schematic and PCB ok.

Then added second sheet to include components on a more deluxe version of the design.

When I saved the design and tried to switch to the PCB view for layout, nothing had changed.

The added parts on sheet 2 did not appear for placement. There was an error when running a rules check that indicated the parts were not there to place. How do you make this work or is it another bug to be fixed somewhere down the road ?

Can people having any successful process flow please share what works so users don't have to waste so much time trying to find a path that works ?  Or are paying users actually just online debuggers ?

I don't mind having limited features as long as there are some known work flows that allow the product to actually create a working product.

I cannot replicate this issue (yet). On my designs using a second sheet works fine, even if they are added at a later point in time.

- Is the 'Design'-file open when you are working on any changes?

- If you have created a second version of the design for your deluxe-edition; is the reference to the 2D PCB correct or does the 2D PCB still refer to your initial version?

Can you share a design with this issue?

I am running the Windows version of Fusion, maybe there is some inconsistency between the releases?

Thanks for the reply.

I copied the new parts to the original schematic and deleted the added sheet.

Then I used the schematic button to open the pcb design.

Still same behavior in that the new parts don't appear but ERC has errors indicating parts not on the board.

So only solution I see is to discard/unlink previous working pcb and re-layout from scratch.

Any ideas before I do that for the next day or so ?

Hi Clark,

I checked if I could reproduce the issue on a second version of my own design but on this side everything works fine for the sample I've checked. I suspect that it has to do with your file structure, but I might be horribly wrong and it could just as well be a bug that I'm not seeing.

What I do to create a second version of my design is as follows:

  1. Create a new folder for the new design
  2. use the data panel to copy the schematic, the 2D PCB and the 3D PCB to the new folder. That's 3 files,
don't copy the Electronics Design file as it will keep referring to the old files!
  3. Create a new Electronics Design and save that in the new folder.
  4. Open the new Electronics Design and use Reference to a Schematic Document and Reference to a PCB Document to create references to 2 out of 3 copied files.
  5. Open the new copy of the 3D PCB and use Link to 2D PCB to create a reference between those as well.

That should have created a completely independent copy of the original design. As far as I can tell I can add components to different sheets and they show up on the 2D PCB just fine.
