When I drop e.g. a resistor onto an existing net, I get a message "Part placement will create a short. Do you still want to add part to '$SIGNAL'?".
This is not helpful and also irritating. The behaviour that I want (and that I assume is common between many schematic editor tools) is to cut the net and drop the component inline. This behaviour is (sometimes) achieved when I click "Yes", however I've also had instances where the net through the part remained and I had to delete that segment manually. However, I would not have guessed that the net is actually cut when I confirm, because then there is no short remaining.
Please just drop that resistor inline into the net 😉
