Moving the Name on a Pin in Library Editor

Anonymous
Not applicable

It appears that it's not currently possible to move the name of a pin in the library editor. This makes it really difficult to design symbols such as a quad package op-amp because the drawings intersect the names. See here for an example: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/eagle-forum/move-pin-name-text-in-symbol-editor/m-p/9409182/highlight...

Is the only solution to this right now to hide the name and add text manually? This seems like it could be very error prone and also time consuming.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I hope you're doing well. For now this is the best way to proceed if you need the text to be arranged in some other arrangement.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Are there plans to address this issue in Fusion 360 Electronics?  It would be nice to be able to re-orient pin names in the symbol without having to use the work-around in the previous post.

Honestly, this is such a basic feature, I cannot believe this has not been addressed yet. It has been 3.5 years since the question was first asked.

Hi @meetSU9F2,

To be honest it's probably been 20+ years since this question was first asked. At first look, it seems like how could we not have this? In practice, it's not a show stopper, as the 1000+ of designs made in EAGLE can attest. Following recommended library conventions, it doesn't get in the way and it's one less thing to worry about.

With that said, there are plans to revisit the library authoring experience and do an overhaul. I'll report this to our product management team.

UPDATE: Just looked and this seems like it will be addressed soon
