Moving parts on a schematic to a new page without disturbing layout?

Is there a way to move parts on a schematic to a new page without completely wrecking the layout? More than once I've had a board grow and grow and I've wanted to break the schematic up to a couple pages, but cutting and pasting completely rips up the pcb layout. Please tell me there is a way to cleanly move things around. It's annoying as hell that cutting and pasting a part not only kills all the layout wires, but the part jumps back to the origin off the board.

Hi @chris.eganY2EK3 ,

I hope you're doing well. The key here is to use the MOVE command. Don't use Cut and Paste. There's really very few use cases where you need Cut. So here's the workflow.

1) Select what you want to relocate
2) Now move the group, it should be floating on your mouse cursor

3) Go into the sheets area at the bottom of Fusion

4) Select what sheet you want to place the circuitry on

5) When you hover back onto the sheet the group is is there and you can left click to place it.

There will be no change to the layout and you'll be able to re-organize the schematic.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thank you. I'm glad there is already a workflow and I just didn't know how to use it.

I can honestly say I rarely use the move command since it's faster to simple click an object and drag, so the few things I had tried with move didn't work.

What about moving schematic from module sheet to main sheet? How can I do this without wrapping PCB layout? I have tried proposed way - all components on the PCB lost their position and placed underneath PCB like they were just inserted into schematic...

Hello @oleksandr_velihorskyi ,

I hope you're doing well. Unfortunately, as you have noted, the above procedure doesn't work. With modules layout will not be preserved because you could have multiple instances of a module what happens when you try to flatten it? The software just isn't able to deal with that right now.

For now we just have to accept the loss of the layout if we go from module to flat schematic sheet. This will likely be addressed as we delve into improving the hierarchy in Fusion Electronics.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

In general, it can be only one module, or user, before the moving of the schematic delete other instances. But clear, hierarchy approach in Fusion requires improvements, and I will wait for the updates.
