place a part in the board editor

right click on it, select move from the sub menu

windows pops up for the move command (steals focus from the scroll wheel)

move works, but scroll on the mouse does not

clicking on the board workspace brings back the scroll wheel zoom, but then you stop the move.

eagle lets you use the scroll wheel during the move

yes left clicking on the part and then dragging and rolling the scroll wheel at the same time works, but it is awkward to say the least, at least for me ! 🙂

Hi Charliex2,

Thanks for coming to the forums with this. Another option is to side-step the right click entirely and click on the MOVE command and left click on the part. It seems the only workflow where this doesn't work is the right click workflow you are using.

I'll bring this up to the devs and see what they say.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

no worries.

yeah that works too, but at least for me it is much slower to be moving back and forth between the icons especially on a large display when the popup menu is right next to where you're looking, i feel it slows the work flow down considerably.

it's the same with any command that causes a popup window, like copy, rotate etc.

focus stealing apps are bad for speedy workflow 🙂

thanks for looking at it though
