Move footprint components on grid

Hi
I can move the components of a footprint around. I can move with grid sized steps. But I can not move exactly on to the grid positions.
Once you component is off grid, how to move it on to the grid again?

Hi @mechamania ,

I hope you're doing well. Hold the ctrl key before you left click to move a component, that will snap it to the current grid. If you want to locate it somewhere specifically you can left-click on the part and then adjust the location in the Inspector.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

When I hold down the ctrl key when left-clicking the component, the component just toggles its selection status and does not move with the mouse!

Hi @mechamania ,

Try it following this procedure:

Click the move icon

Click on the component you want to move

Now with the component floating hold the control key and move the component you'll see it snap to the grid.

Let me know if it still doesn't work.

Can we please add a button to "align to grid" that can operate easily on a selection of parts?

Hi @jdebussc,

We have  such a button. Make sure your selection only contains components. Then in the inspector under quick actions you'll see the option to align to grid. See bottom of the image.

I'm not finding the group align-to-grid functionality to work. Am I doing something wrong here?

Hi @nathan_langford6LLCW,

I have verified this behaviour and I can confirm that using the Align To Grid button from the Inspector Quick Actions doesn't work. One workaround for now is to select only the components you want to align and use the "Modify / Align" command from the DESIGN menu toolbar. See below:

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Kind Regards,
