Library creation and management

I seem to have a lot of trouble when creating library devices.  If I build a device, working through each part without interruption, things work reasonably well. But when creating, for example, a large footprint with lots of pins for a device, if for some reason I get interrupted and have to leave it and come back, even though I have saved my work, I can't find it when I come back to work in it again.  Where did it go, and how can I access it?

I hope you're doing well. I would recommend creating a libraries project and saving your libraries there, that way you know to always look there for your libraries. If you don't specify a location then by default the library will be saved in whatever project is saved.

Is there any way to move libraries to a single project titled library? and delete libraries that are no longer useful?

And even more pressing:  How do I get to and fix an existing library?  for example, I get this error message when trying to insert a symbol into a schematic.

It looks like I have a problem with a footprint that I need to correct.  What is the workflow for modifying an existing footprint (in this case but maybe also a symbol in general).  I can't figure out how to open the existing footprint in the symbol editor.

Hello @ken.r.woodruff.ctr ,

I hope you're doing well. The issue here is that the part you are trying to insert is not fully mapped. As far as I know all of the parts we shipped with are fully mapped so I figure this is a user made part. 

The fix is to right click on the offending component and then select Open Device in Library. Once the device is opened , look on the bottom right and select Connect.

In the dialog that pops up make sure that all of the pins in the leftmost column are mapped to pads. Once that leftmost column is empty you are done (having unused pads is OK, unused pins is not allowed).

You completely missed the question!! I know what's wrong with the part and how to fix it-I just don't know how to get to where I CAN fix it in this software.  I'm getting really frustrated with this software and am about to abandon it. 

Can you please tell me  what the workflow is to edit a part that is already created? 

If I can't get this to a more useable state, I'll definitely be moving on.

I hope you're doing well. If you don't have a libraries project  where you save your libraries to(see recommendation here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmA_xUT-8UlKE-U-eEqrkNEI7rd1fUnLY) then you there's only one way to find the library. Go into the LIbrary manager , check the in Design and In Use tab and find the library in question. Select it and then click Edit.

Now with the library open you can find the device and edit it.
