Layer stack manager stuck in mm

So, layer stack manager...  It seems like the layer thicknesses are stuck in mm. I'm assuming that has something to do with the fact that it is trying to force me to pick from a "small" list of pre-defined pre-pregs.

How do I change to mils?

If I can't how do I define my own materials, nothing in there applies to my design?

And while I'm asking questions, how do I define my own surface finishes?  It bothers me that ENIG is defined as GOLD 🙂

Thank you.

Hi Eric,

You can do this directly in the Layer Stack Manager dialog by enabling the option below, see the picture:

Then you can update any of the material properties directly in the LSM and you can save the stackup you create as a preset for later use. Please see the picture below for an example of in-place changes to LSM material properties:

When you change the layer material properties in-place the Material field will display User Defined so you know that this is not a Library Material.

If you have a list of materials that you want added to our Material Library you can share them with us and I will add them as soon as possible.

We'll add support for editing library materials in te near future.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Kind Regards,

Thank you. If you look at that picture you sent me, the bottom total stack height is in mm as well as some of the material.  I'd like that to match my default drawing units which is mil for me.  I assume that's just not implemented yet, but since my design is in mil I'd like everything to be in mil not a mix.

Hi Eric,

Yes this is true, the reason we haven't implemented that is that we followed the behaviour of Eagle when we upgraded the LSM with material support. I can see your point and I asked our Customer Support to add a feature request that we can implement in the near future.

One other thing that I think I forgot to answer for you initial question was regarding the materials availability. If you have specific dielectric materials that you want available in the Material Library you can share them with me and I will add them and they will be available in the next Fusion update.

Please let me know if there is anything else I ca  help you with.

Kind Regards,
