Keyboard shortcut mappings ETA?

Hi,

Any updates to when Keyboard Mappings will be implemented? Currently this is one of the major short comings holding us back from migrating from Eagle to F360 Electronics.

Cheers

Steve

If you locate the command in the toolbar (from the drop-down menu, not the pinned icon), click the 3 vertical dots and you should be able to assign keyboard shortcuts as needed.

I don't believe Autodesk has implemented a full mass customization UI but you can assign individual shortcuts to commands.

Unfortunately the triple dot option doesn't work for layers or other dropdowns and CLI commands.

We need to be able to quickly change layers while routing and not have to go back to the drop down to change the layer.

I know it's not the solution you are looking for but "c" on the keyboard will bring up the change menu and you access the layer manager pretty quickly. Among other things.

Unfortunately that is what we are trying to avoid as it affects the productivity flow. When you're routing that needs to break out many pins to a different layer, or doing something that moves from one layer to another, having to move your mouse from where you left off to select something and then back again is just a productivity drain. Specially if you have to do that all day.

If you're talking about specifically during manual routing then you can click the mouse wheel to select a layer to switch to and place a via without leaving the current route.

Maybe that will help with your productivity.

Yes I understand that, but it still means I have to move off the place I was at to choose a new layer instead of being in position and just type ctrl-b or ctrl-t etc. This functionality was available in Eagle and is lost in F360.

Spacebar will toggle between copper layers while routing and place a via without moving the mouse off your current location.

For now I will accept that solution as it sorta works between top and bottom copper, but doesn't seem to do inner layers. However, it would still be useful to have the ability to assign my own mapping to what I need as it was in Eagle.

I don't use it very often but I believe the first time that you route on an unused layer you have manually select it but after that during the route, multiple presses of the spacebar will cycle through the other layers effectively.

The status bar at the bottom of the canvas will display what layer the route will jump to when you place the via.

@jorge_garcia Was that by design that it doesn't automatically cycle through all available layers if they are currently unused? Or maybe something worthy of improvement?

Hi @ritste20 ,

I hope you're doing well. The trick with the spacebar is that it will only cycle through the visible layers, so the layers you want to drop to have to be visible. It won't automatically turn on a layer.

You can change layers by clicking your scroll wheel as if it were a button. That mechanism can turn on the layer even if it's off, but it's more troublesome. Hence why the spacebar shortcut is typically preferred.

I would like to be able to change layers, at a minimum top and bottom and still have fast method to place vias.  I can place vias with the space bar.  Need a hotkey to toggle top lay/bottom layer. That is the the both.  Not a show stopper, just a convenience.   Thanks

@steve35FU7   never...

they, I mean Autodesk they do not understand it, Fusion is type of mouse clicking software, they love Mouse. They probably have never worked with 8 or 12 layers PCBs, thus they have no idea what are you talking about.

I asked about this like year ago, there was only some response that it is problematic, because of Eagle roots...blabla etc .Thus it is not for professional use. They like people with top and bottom and thats all that is their target market.  They think why do you need switch effectively between the layers if you could have just two top and bottom?!.

50 years ago IBM boss said that there is a place for maximum 5 computers on the world and no more, and autodesk is saying it is enough to have 2 layers not more.

You actually should be happy that is is not crashing 10 times daily.
