Is it possible?  If so, is there a tutorial?

Thank you. I was able to make this work with one project, but one project causes the software to immediately crash after the prompt asking if I want the schematic broken into sheets or modules. Any way to look at logs to see what went wrong so I can import this project?

Hi @rodneycGDADW,

I hope you're doing well. Would you be willing to share that project that isn't importing? Our developers would like to take a look at it to see what's causing the importer to fail.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

I wouldn't mind sharing with the devs, could you send me a PM with details on how you would like it sent? I can give a OneDrive link if that's good enough.

Thank you, looks like my board is importing correctly now, but I would like to know where I can read up on importing footprint libraries, or at least how to design custom footprints with custom pad shapes, board cutouts, etc? All of my board footprints show but the library they come from wasn't imported and I can't seem to import the footprints through the library manager, as they're not the right file type.

Hi @rodneycGDADW

You can import Kicad_Mod file through uploading directly.

See more in https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=ECD-KICAD-IMPORTER-DO

I just tried importing the RPI CM4 files available at https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/compute-module-4-io-board/ and it generates a bunch of electronic design project files instead of keeping it all inside ONE electronics design file since it's one board. What am I doing wrong? See attached images.

I also get the error on top that "Schematic/PCB sync deactivated, run DRC..." Shouldn't the files be sync'd properly already since this is a finished board design?

Kicad import works for me, sort off. ;-(

It will make for me 1 design project file with some schematic sheets in it an a pcb.

The Raspberry downloaded Kicad file is in an older version then the importer accepts. So you have to open the file first in Kicad 7 and save it again. Kicad 8 was not working for. Look like Fusion can't handle V8 files correct.

After the import is finished there are indeed some ERC design error's, something about a package mismatch. This brakes the sync between schematic and board.

However the DRC shows even more error's, we got overlapping tracks etc, not something that can be fixed by hand easily.

Back to the drawing board for the fusion develop team. if you ask me.

Ps I have as good as zero experience with Kicad.

Yeah I had to re-save it as Kicad 7, which is fine, but bunch of errors and the project wasn't saved as a single project, but as multiple electronic design files. Polygon pours also had same rank instead of being properly ranked. I think there's still bugs to work out with this importer.

Hi @shaische222

I hope you are doing well!

I try to upload the Kicad file in https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/compute-module-4-io-board/

And I find the those Kicad files are older KiCad V7. And I can see the Upload failed warning dialog.

KicadFile.PNG

Not sure if I misunderstand something.

As I know, if you only have one Kicad_Pro file, then it will only create one electronics design.

Please help to check how many kiCad_Pro files you have.

And if you still have any problems for the Electronics Design file numbers, please let us know, thanks!

BTW, for the "Schematic/PCB sync deactivated..." issue, we do some fixing for it and the fixing will be released later.

I will keep you updated when we release the fixing for those issues.

Hi @panpan_fan as I had mentioned in the previous post, I resaved it as Kicad 7 and then imported it. It then created a bunch of electronic design files, essentially as separate projects and broke the sync between schematic/board. Not to mention that there's polygon pours with same ranks on the PCB as well and other issues.

I just want to comment in support of this initiative... I too am coming from the keyboard world and having an kiCad import, even if its just the mouse bites, so that I can model the keyboard around the PCB would be a massive help.

Looking forward to this functionality.

Hello @whorlowharry,

I hope you're doing well. We can in fact already import KiCAD files if that is what you are requesting, then we already have it. Just click the normal upload button and feed it KiCAD files and it will process them correctly.

If you are asking for a mousebites feature, then that's cool but I'd like to ask you to create a new thread requesting it so that I can tie it to a proper feature request report.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
