Importing from Eagle - replace all components to match previously imported library.

Hi there,

I'm trying to migrate my electronics workflow from Eagle to Fusion 360. From many previous Eagle projects, I have built up a library.io library called "custom-2019". I have successfully imported this to Fusion 360 as a Fusion Teams library and saved it in a folder as "custom-2020". So far so good.

Now I want to import several Eagle designs that have many components linked to the old "custom-2019" library. I need to update them so that all the same components link to the "custom-2020" library instead on Fusion Teams. How can I do this? There are too many components to replace them all manually.

Hi @jeremiahrose

I hope you are doing well!

As I understand, you want to use the schematic and 2d PCB files which are created using the library.io library in Eagle side.

I test this workflow and personally I think you don't need to replace components to reuse the schematic and 2d PCB file.

If you see the warning message which I attached, you can just click 'Open Managed Libraries to download and use these libraries' to download the library.io library. Then you can continue to use the library.io library in Fusion 360.

Can you have a try to see if it satisfied your need? Or do I misunderstand something here?

If you have any questions, please leave your comments, thanks!

Hi PanPan, unfortunately you did not understand my question.

As I said very clearly, I do not wish to use library.io from Fusion360. I want to point the newly imported Eagle project to the Fusion Teams version of my library.

How can this be done?

Hi @jeremiahrose

So sorry that I may misunderstand your point.

If you only want to replace all your components from library.io library to Fusion Team library, then as I know, it may not have a way to replace them at one step. You may use Filter (In Design Manager Tab) combined with Replace command in Quick Action of Inspector Dialog. It may be a little bit quickly.

By the way, I am not sure you have heard about Team Link Library in Fusion 360. It means that you can save a library.io library in Fusion. Then the the library.io library will become a Team Link Library.  The Team Link Library is saved both in Fusion and library.io at the same time. Of course, any change of the library in Fusion or library.io can be synced by Push and Pull command (It means that the library.io library and Team Library in Fusion can alway have same version). If you think it meet your expection, you can have a try.If the Team Link Library does no help to your question, please ignore it.Thank you very much!

This is exactly our problem:  We get the message and click on it, which brings us to a listing of lots of models.  There we can select "Used in current design" for example and it lists just those items.  We then click on the "Import libraries" button (top right) and select "Import from local disk".  It takes half a minute processing, but never says anything further, and the only way to close the operation is to click "X".  It seems like nothing happened, because it continues to ask to import the files from Eagle.  What are we doing wrong?

Hi @seanAKDZ6,

I hope this message finds you well. Using the update command it's possible to replace all of the references to one library for another.

This video covers the process in detail.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
