Import logo on top silkscreen and allow re-size other than import-bmp-simple script

I have found posts to use  import-bmp or import-bmp-simple.  This seems to put a log at origin of PCB workspace and I specified layer of 21, top silkscreen.

I have converted my BMP to B/W and I can get image at origin.

Has there been any improvements where a logo (in some graphics format) can be pulled into the PCB then re-sized to fit nicely AND smoothed?  The log generated with import-bmp-simple seems rough edged and I'm not sure how to resize and place it where it needs to be on the silkscreen.

Thank you for your time,   Mark

Hello @mjstn2011 ,

I hope you're doing well. If you are open to trying the insider version of Fusion you'll see that we have implemented SVG import, which is a great improvement over the bmp import. Barring any unforseen circumstances that will be coming in the next release of Fusion.

If you have to get this done right now and you don't want to be on Insider, then here are some tips to make the bmp import easier to manage.

1) Don't worry about the blockiness at the edges, depending on the resolution of the image, on the manufactured board the sharp edges will be smoothed out by the tolerances involved in silkscreen application.

2) If you selected the whole logo you can right click and turn it into a persistent group. This will make it much easier to select and move later on.

Here's the link to join the insider program if you are interested.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thank you @jorge_garcia .  Your prompt replies and good info have been very helpful to me over the last few months.

I have done it with import_bmp to layer 21.  The 'tricks' were I had to set selection filter to layer 21 then select all the little rectangles that made up the image.  Next like in other use cases I did  Move:Group and was able to move it.    What is lacking IMHO was 1) After the formation of the image it needed to be a single graphic that could be simply selected and moved.  2) an easier way to re-size the created image rather than have to go back and forth to re-create the image trying different scale factors.

So it's all good and I will avoid an experimental Fusion 360 right now as we are not wanting to risk this work.

Thanks you @jorge_garcia and 'Live Long and Prosper'.

Hi Jorge,

Thats great news on the SVG import, I look forward to trying that out. How do I do I get the "Insider" version of Fusion with this feature?

Regards,

Joe

Hi Jorge,

That is awesome, I can't wait to try it out. Is the SVG import sailable in real time? For example, once I import it to a layer, can I change its size arbitrary?

Hello @joeMVETK ,

I hope you're doing well. You can't scale it after it's been placed but you can scale it while placing it. So it's not like the import-bmp.ulp where you set a scale see it comes in wrong (too big or too small) and then have to re-import it. Try it and let me know what you think of it, I consider it an upgrade over the import-bmp tool.

Let me know if there's anything else i can do for you.
