I can't see the 3D package when I look at the 3D view.

None of the steps on this forum fix my issue. I am a struggling newby ECAD user so who knows what I am doing wrong. Here are the steps I have taken to cause and attempt to fix this problem:
1. Import a couple different connectors, one from SnapEDA and the other from SamacSys. I purposely importing from multiple sources to get more experience with the process. Using both sources I had to download the symbol and footprint in one download and do another download to get the package.
2. After I did the first download, I put the symbols on my schematic. Then when I switched to the PCB document, my footprints looked good. Then I switched to the 3D views, of course there was no package.
3. Then I opened the Library Manager, selected my part, and clicked Edit to get to the Content Manager. Whew. It took a long time to figure this out. This product is not intuitive at all. Is there an easier way to get to the Content Manager?
4. In the CM I observed there was no package, so per instructions I found on this forum, I selected Footprint (why not Device, Symbol, or Footprint?), and selected Create New 3D Model. Then I screwed around for hours to figure out how to get my STEP files into the system. I expected Create New 3D Model would let me import a step file off of my hard drive. Nope. Eventually I learned I needed to download the two package STEP files and put them in my project data folder. So I did that.
5. Now it gets horrible. Yesterday I figured out how to import the STEP file in my project data folder onto the footprint and orient it. It is gone now and when I try to do the same steps I get duplicated files and files that are not accessible. Nothing works at the way I am expecting, nor is it working like it did yesterday. I'm about ready to go to Kicad even though it seems like going back to Win3 or DOS or something. I'll try to describe what is happening. So I just deleted my old package files and I will describe what I'm doing as I try to get them back.
6. To go back to Content Manager - click on my schematic, open Library Manager, select part, Edit. Click on Packages. Found none. Click on Footprints, Click on the component. Right click and select Create New 3D Model, save the new file that is created. Go to STEP file and right click and insert it into the drawing, orient it. Click Finish. Click Yes. I now have a new file, almost identical to the STEP file. I suppose this is my Package file. Looks like the CM has created another new file. I am not sure that in the past I saved this file. Here is a screenshot at this point.
You can see that I have a STEP file for the part starting with 54602. I also have a package, 2 PCB files, and a schematic. After saving I have another file also starting with 54602. I'm unsure what this file is for. It appears to be the Content Manager for this part only. I think my problems before were the result of me not saving this file.
7. Now from what I read here earlier, I need to update the project with the changes to the library. So go back to the Schematic. Click Library tab and then Update design from all libraries. Status window says nothing to do, so maybe I did not need to do this.
8. Now look at 3D view of PCB to see if it works. Switch to PCB view. Then switch to PCB view with canvas. IT DOES NOT SHOW MY COMPONENT. I GIVE UP. I just can't figure this process out or maybe it is too buggy. IDK.
I would appreciate it if someone from Autodesk would Zoom with me and share my screen. It might help you to see what mistakes I am making. Perhaps by watching that you could see how the documentation might be improved to work better from a new user's perspective.
I know I have files that do not seem to be necessary and now I have duplicated parts in my In Use section of the Library Manager. The duplicate just appeared.
Lastly, I see another problem. I have two of these components on my board. According to the Design Manager, they are both on the BOTTOM side. Why is it when I look at the 3D view, one square is red and the other is black? Does that mean they are on different layers?
