I have removed the text.  Somehow I had set all layers to locked perhaps with some accidental sequence of keys or hotkeys or mouse actions.  I had been using Altium and how to move or resize screen varies.   I shot my own foot.

On zooming in I also see that all Vias seem to have a tiny half intensity white lock on them.

When I was doing this design I had used a vias only selection filter but Filters are set to None now.

This may be entirely different issue but may be a clue

No idea how I did this but somehow all layers were all set to be locked.  Maybe some hotkey typo or something. This was my own fault just REALLY hard to see any reason or message saying 'sorry, part is locked and cannot be moved'.

Hi @mjstn2011 ,

I hope you're doing well. I figure you have already solved this and that's why you put accepted solution but I just want to confirm. Traces are easy because they show locks but components are tricky. The only way to tell they are locked is by looking at the crosshairs, they become Xs instead of just + signs.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

The whole stuff not responding when locked is a major place to do things that are unintentional.

I would like to know how to say in an active PCB design to say 'unlock EVERYTHING'.   Is there such a script for PCB usage?

Hi @mjstn2011 ,

I hope you're doing well. You don't need a script to that. Here's a basic procedure

1) Select the whole board, with all your layers on, etc.

2) Activate the Lock command

3) Hold ctrl+shift and right click an object on your board

Everything that was locked will now unlock.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,
