how to rename a net without merging

Let's say I have some named nets. I realize I made a mistake and want to change the net.  How do I modify the name without it forcing me to merge nets?

For example I have this connector:

I want to rename all of these nets without the IMU prefix.  So just SPI_CS, SPI_CLK etc. In OrCad I would just edit the text.  Here everything I try pops up a little message "do you want to merge SPI_CS with IMU_SPI_CS?"  And no I don't. I just want to change the net connected to this connector.  The only way I've found to do it is to delete the wire, put in a new one and rename it. Which is tedious for such a common operation.

Thank you.

Right mouse on the wire and choose Name. When it prompts you, elect to rename just that segment.  That should only rename the connected pin and split the net.

Hope that helps.

Okay.  I saw that but what's confusing to me here is it asks "connect old name with new name?"  If the old name exists elsewhere in the schematic is it going to connect those nets?  For example if I have my net named NETA and NETA is connected in a bunch of other places  and I rename it to NETB, I don't want to connect NETB to NETA, I just want to modify this single one.

I get you may be telling me that's how it works, but it's pretty confusing/annoying that it pops up to ask every time.

Hi @eric_engineer,

I hope you're doing well. In Fusion Electronics, all connections are defined by net name. So when it asks you to merge or connect them it is essentially renaming. The idea is to make sure everything connects as intended since you can't have nets with the same name that don't connect.

TL:DR Just always click yes when it ask you if you want to merge the net names.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
