How to move a file (up)

Hi,

I accidentally saved a PCB to a wrong directory. Now I want to move it into the project directory where it belongs.

I can right-click the file and select move. But the window that appears only let me move to a subfolder. But I need to move it to some other folder. First a directory up and then into the correct project folder.

I feel stupid that I can not find this. On the other hand, this should be much moe intuitive.

Hi @mechamania,

Don't feel bad, this can happen to anyone. I want clear up that projects in Fusion 360 are much more than folders. They are the smallest unit in Fusion over which you can control access. What this means is that if you working with others, you can limit their access to a project. They will be able to see and touch anything within a project. So if currently you have a everything in one project... then anyone you invite to it will have the keys to the kingdom.

With that said, you may be able to achieve what you want by viewing the hub on the web. Go into the project in Fusion 360 and then click the view on Web icon(bottom picture). Find the file you wish to move and the click on the arrow that points down. You'll see the option to move the file to other projects within your hub(top picture).

I can see the file in the web view. I can select the move for this file. It gives me the list of all my project folders and I select the folder to move to. I cick move. But nothing happens!

I also can not delete the PCB to start a new one! So I'm stuck with a project that has a PCB in a completely wrong folder. And I'm not able to correct this! This is very bad. I do not understand that Fusion lets me write the PCB in a folder that does not belong to the project and then not being able to move it or delete it!

Please help! Anyone!

Hi @mechamania ,

Ok, go into the 2D PCB and break the link to the 3D pcb. Then you can generate a new 3D PCB from the board. That would be best way forward for now. 

I don't know why you the Move would fail.

If you could provide some screenshots or a recording of what you are doing, maybe we can figure this out.

It is not a 3D PCB that is the problem. I have no 3D PCB yet. It is the (2D) PCB design that is stored at the wrong place. And I do not see any method to break the link to a 2D PCB. And I already spent a lot of time in designing this board. So I really would not like to delete it anymore. I just want to move it.

Correction: The spinning 'busy' dialog did not dissapear. So it keeps spinning endless.
