How do I stop the dialogs from popping out and taking up space?

As I edit the schematic and PCB, different operations (Move, Copy, etc.) cause different dialogs (Move, Selection Filter, Inspector) to pop out from the right side of the screen.  This slows down the computer, takes up a lot of screen space, and also causes slight shifts of the content in the main window as it is resized to make space for the dialogs.  What's the best practice for dealing with this?  It's really annoying!

I hope you are doing well!
As I know, we can't hide the command dialog when you click to activate the command. The command dialog is very useful when you run command.

If you think the canvas is too small for you, you can hide some panels. Please check the post to see how to hide panels.

I will experiment more.  Hiding the panels doesn't seem like a great idea either -- how do I make them unhide if I need them?  I wish there were an option to do it like Eagle does -- that was great: the toolbar along the top edge would change the mix of icons depending on the command, so no big shifts, no changes in canvas size, not much screen real estate used.  Maybe a feature request could be entered to add "Dock Top" and "Dock Bottom" options?

Hi @scott,

I hope you're doing well. Just to add to @panpan_fan 's comments.  If you hide the panel's you can get them to pop up again by clicking on the arrows that show up on whatever side you have hidden the panels.

Unless we can convince the greater Fusion org to change the command dialogs, I don't think an EAGLE style top toolbar for commands is going to be coming anytime soon. I've found that currently the best way to use the command dialogs is to leave them floating. If you try to dock them then as you switch commands it resizes and eventually gets all messed up. We will continue to work on improving the panels situation.

Ah, so the issue her is the UI of Fusion overall, and trying to make FE match Fusion more generally in its UI?

What do you mean, exactly, by "leaving them floating"?  The other thing I tried is making a bunch of them into tabs and then dragging the tabbed group to another screen (i.e. monitor), but when I close and reopen Fusion, they are part of the main screen again and I have to drag them away again.  It would be nice if they stayed separate once I made that choice.

Hi @scott,

What I mean is leave the command dialogs (MOVE, ROTATE, etc.) in default state where when you click the command the command dialog opens up on the top right of your screen showing you all the options for the command. I know it takes up space but it doesn't mess with the panel arrangement.

That does cause the canvas size to change and the content therein to shift, though, so it doesn't solve the problem.  I guess I'll have to keep playing with it to see which is the least bad option.  I think I'm going to keep using Eagle unless I need some feature of Fusion which Eagle lacks.
