Fusion really needs some productivity improvements

I'm building a part today, just a normal BGA with about 160+ pins in it. In Orcad I'd be done with this in 5-minutes. I could just copy paste the whole pin list from the datasheet into their spreadsheet part creator, select which pins were passive, pwr, what side of the part they go on and even which section of the multi-part package they'd go to. Then with one click I'd have a part I could easily adjust pin locations on and be done.  I'm not even talking about their fancy from datasheet part creators, I just mean a simple excel like input popup.

Instead I'm trudging through this for an hour manually in Fusion. And the process of changing pin names... right click and a menu pops up that doesn't even automatically select the pin name box.  You should be able to right click or click on the pin name and change it with no extra clicks or selections necessary. And the fact that now I have to go back and manually assign pin numbers to these names in another section of the tool? Yikes what a huge risk of getting something wrong and even more wasted time.

We all have a million things to do, and our tools need to be fast and efficient.

Hi @eric_engineer,

I hope you're doing well. Thanks for the feedback you can actually do that in Fusion already but it is not at all obvious how.

See the video here, we've actually been able to do this since EAGLE.

The biggest problem is discoverability. Now, if you can obtain a BSDL file of the BGA then you could produce the part in 10 secs, with the make-symbol-device-package-bsdl.ulp that comes with Fusion 360.

Let me know if you run into any issues with this.

Thanks that's useful.  No way to automatically tie it to the correct pin numbers though?  Like ball VCC1 = ball A7?

Hi @eric_engineer,

The ULP can actually do that, the Smart Paste can't because it only deals with the symbol.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
