Hi,

I wanted to give you the main highlights of the November 2024 release. It's packed with new and improved tools that undoubtedly improve your design time and provide a much better design experience.

Meander and Quicktune
Meanders.png

The Meander command now features an intuitive interface where you can specify length, tolerance, and gap spacing. When working with differential pairs, the Meander command automatically adjusts to match the size of the most extended trace, simplifying the design process.

QuickTune is an essential new addition to our Quickroute family. It allows you to quickly length-tune a single trace, differential pairs, or a group of traces, offering the flexibility to match the longest trace or set a specific length. The interface also lets you define amplitude and gap spacing, giving you precise control over trace tuning and ensuring optimal signal alignment across your design.

Align with Construction lines

AlignConstructionLines.png

The construction line feature allows mechanical engineers to draw reference lines and shapes directly on the PCB, in the 3D PCB, or in the Design Workspace, providing you with references for precise component placement. This recent update enables electronics engineers to leverage the Align command to accurately position assets along these construction lines, accelerating the design process by providing an apparent reference for component rows, breakout holes, and more. This streamlined approach reduces design time and ensures higher accuracy and alignment for complex consumer electronics projects.

Quickroute follow DRC Custom Rules
QuickRoute.png

Fusion’s QuickRoute capabilities fully support the custom rules defined in the Design Rules dialog. This allows for faster, more efficient design completion with tools precisely tailored to your specifications.

Component Search by Name

FindPartbyPartname.png

Now, you can search for parts directly within the Library Manager, which is accessible from the Place Panel. Type the name of the part you're looking for in the Library Manager Filter, and you will get a list of libraries that have that component. This feature is invaluable, especially when you want to use a part created by a specific librarian or supplier. With a clear view of all available options, selecting the ideal part for your design becomes simple and efficient, helping you save time and resources.

Allow Face Selection in PCB Hole in the 3D PCB workspace

AllowFaceSelection.png

In the Fusion 3D PCB workspace, you can now choose the exact plane for placing holes, adopting the familiar behavior from the Design workspace. This approach enables reference capabilities for precise placement, which the 2D PCB editor will adopt. This enhancement ensures a smoother workflow between mechanical and electronic design, allowing you to seamlessly align mounting points and standoff locations, ultimately contributing to a more cohesive and manufacturable product design.

Improve the Soldermask and Paste Stencil Support for Vias, Pads and SMD

SolderMask+Stencil.png

Please review our recent blog post about layers to get a good idea of the function of the Fusion Electronics layers.

We have added more control to the Solder Mask and Stencil in the Library Footprint editor. You are now empowered to have much more control over the type of exposure PAD, SMD, and Via on your PCB design. The new grid-style stencil configuration provides a more SMD-precise paste application, keeping the component in place during wave soldering.

Avnet Add-On

Avnet-AddOn.png

This Add-On by Avnet is in its initial stage of development. You can easily access it from our Fusion Add-On Store. This add-in is a game-changer for Fusion Electronic Workspace. It provides instant access to datasheets, access to reference designs, and insights into supply chain health. Follow the above links for more details.

As you can see, our team of developers, working with our professionals from the XD team, continues to deliver excellence for Fusion Electronics' workspace. If you are in the middle of a project and prefer to complete it before updating, you have the choice to update today or delay for 14 days. These tools will improve your design experience and provide the tools to complete your project more efficiently.

Thank you for your continued participation in the Fusion Electronics Forum. Our teams closely monitor the forum to learn more about your design experience with Electronics, and we want to hear from you if you have questions or suggestions.

With Warm Regards,

Ed

Hello. In previous versions of Fusion 360 I used QuickTune to automatically align roads and it worked correctly, but later I had to use this function again, but now after pressing "Tune selected" all vias change to 0.35 mm, I have the roles set to holes of minimum 0.2 mm. I am using the latest version of Fusion 2.0.21538 x86_64

Hi @Andresuga ,

I hope you're doing well. Would you be able to share a screenshot of the rules you have setup for the diff pair? Quick Tune itself won't touch existing vias so this behavior is unexpected. If you can create a screen recording of the issue that would be really helpful.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thanks for the reply. The video clearly shows how changing the via value in QuickRoute Airwire changes the behavior in QuickTune.Rules.png

Hi @Andresuga ,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you so much for the screenshot and video. The beginning of the video is interesting, it shows that preferred is set to 0.35mm even though your general rules show something different. Do you have any custom rules? I think those may be the reason the vias become 0.35mm. I didn't know the Quicktune would affect the via diameters. I'm going to bring this up to the developers to see if there is an explanation.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi. Yes, i tried different options in custom rules, but it didn't help. at the beginning, i didn't have anything in custom rules, but the result was the same.

Switching between tabs is slow because on every switch Fusion needs to rerender panels etc..

Switching takes about 3 seconds.

No, its just new "bug". Nothing related to you.

This update should fix laggy UI, but it did not.

Hi @Andresuga

I'm Pawel from the Quality Assurance team.

Can you send me your board file in a direct message for further investigation? I could not reproduce this behavior...

Hello. After the latest Fusion 360 update, the problem with changing the size of the vias disappeared. But another problem appeared, the mask on all the holes changes.

Hello @Andresuga ,

I hope you're doing well. So I don't think the mask changed, I think the layer just got turned on. Looking at the video it seems you had the layer turned off for all vias not just the ones being tuned. Afterwards the layer got turned back on.

Can you confirm?

I apologize for the late reply. All layers are enabled. The mask is limited to 0.5mm. In the latest version, they added a function to automatically set the mask. Perhaps this somehow changed the behavior of QuickTune.

Hello @Andresuga,

I hope you're doing well. The devs have been working on a fix for this and it looks like they almost have it, the fix should be out shortly. Once fixed the vias will keep their states before and after the quick tune.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
