Fit a 3D model in my 3D PCB

Hello,

A great tool you have here. I am using Fusion 360 for the first time and I don't have experience with 3D modelling.

I am designing a shield for the board XPLAINED MINI. I have done the placement in my PCB and produced a 3D model of it. After that, I wanted to check if the shield fits the XPLAINED MINI as expected.

For that, I followed the next steps :

- Create a new conception design

- Insert the 3D model of the PCB

- Insert the XPLAINED MINI

I was able to insert the models but the result was not what I expected. For some reason, the 3D model of the XPLAINED MINI changes after I insert it in the new conception design, the headers no longer are in the supposed place. I don't understand much about this subject, if someone could highlight what I am doing wrong, I would appreciate it.

Just a note, I used the 3D model of the XPLAINED MINI provided by the manufacturer and added the headers myself, I guess I made some mistake here.

I have attached a video showing the problem.

Best regards.

Hello @Anonymous ,

I notice that your XPLAINED MINI is actually a Fusion mechanical design, but not the "3D PCB" designed for Fusion electronics.  Anyway, this should be a bug of Fusion. Can you share me (richard.liu@autodesk.com) the file of XPLAINED MINI? It would be very helpful for us to reproduce the issue quickly.

Yes, of course, I will share it with you by email.

The XPLAINED MINI is provided by the manufacturer as a .stp file, but without the headers. So I imported it to Fusion 360 and after that, I added the headers.

Hi @Anonymous ,

As I replied to you in the email, the simplest way to fix the issue is to break link the inserted components.

Thank you. It's like you said, just break the link.

After I finish the routing I will build a case for the board and I guess I will make a lot of mistakes like this.
