Fast layer switching and stop switching layers on via placement

Two questions. What's the keyboard shortcut for swapping what layer you're working on (particularly in single layer view mode).  I don't want a pop up menu I want move freely on layers with my left hand.

Second question. When I'm placing 100 VIP micro-vias on a BGA that punch down to a GND plane, how do I stop it from swapping to the GND layer after every placement?  I tried placing vias with the via tool but that always gives me an overlap DRC.

Hi @eric_engineer ,

I hope this message finds you well. For the first shortcut, while using the route command use the spacebar to switch to whatever layer you want, once you drop the via you'll see that the single view route will not be on the new layer. If you go past the layer you want you can use shift+spacebar.

For 2) after you have the via on the end of the trace hold shift and left click will cause the via to drop but you'll stay on the same layer you are currently on. Don't preplace vias, you can drop all of the vias you need while routing (stitching being a notable exception)

Hi @eric_engineer
I see that you mentioned that there is overlap DRC error. This is because the via overlap pad. If you don't want to see this error, you could select the overlap error and click the approve button, then you won't see this error in canvas.
