Anyone ever see this error pushing PCB to 3D?

Hello @SoloTheDog,

I hope you're doing well. The servers had some issues last week.  Could you try again to see if it's been resolved? Just in case I'll ping our developers to see if there is any other info available.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Same issue today. It's been a few days with this error. Let me know if there is any other information I can provide.

Hello @SoloTheDog,

Would you be able to confirm or find out precisely what component is not being found? Is it all of them? If you can narrow it down somehow or developers will be able to make some headway.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

there is only one file that has a step file attached to it. All the other ones are using the default, placeholders.

Sorry, by file I mean component. Maybe the error is the error message itself. Perhaps I attached step file incorrectly to the component.

The 3D component package is in the same library as all of my components, and is in the same location as the pcb and sch... Do these get stored somewhere else or something?

Hi @SoloTheDog ,

The 3D component package is technically a cloud asset, you download a local copy to work with but everything is constantly updating to the cloud.

How did you go about importing the STEP file?  Since you only have one component with the 3D package we can try to focus on just getting that to work.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I figured out the problem but not the solution. It's an access permissions issue. I don't understand why though, as I'm the project admin. Do you know a solution for this?

Cannot access 3D package in Fusion Team. This issue can happen if the package is still being processed or if you don't have access permission. Please, retry opening the file in a couple of seconds. If the problem persists check your access permissions.

This is the error.

Hello @SoloTheDog,

OK here's what you could check. Because Fusion Team and Library.io are two different infrastructures, they have different permissions. So you have to make sure you have permission for the library in both Fusion Team and library.io can you confirm this?

I don't use Team, but have a dormant team account as shown in the 2nd screenshot. I don't use it, I made it years ago and briefly used it then. I own the Eric F. account, and nobody else has access or admin to either account.

Is the screenshot of the library where we manage permissions there?

Hello @ea425019,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for the images,  Single User Storage is the old storage mechanism so you wont have any libraries there.

The second picture shows the library manager and those checkboxes are just a filter for when you search for libraries. For managing permissions you actually have 2 places to check for the permissions.

1) Go to library.io and log into your account. Do you see the library you are interested in there? If you do then you have access to the library and things are sorted.

2) Inside Fusion you can check the permissions by going to the web interface.

Is the library in the image, molex 5 pin library the one you are interested in controlling? If it is that is a Fusion Team library. Where is that library stored?

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi Jorge,

Is the library in the image, molex 5 pin library the one you are interested in controlling? If it is that is a Fusion Team library. Where is that library stored?

Yes to the 5 pin molex.  Location has been changed to library.io per your advice.

I have placed the two suspect components in library.io, per your advice. I was not aware that that was the right place.

I am a mechanical engineer, who is new to electronic within a cad environment design, forgive my ignorance to some of this.  Please review my workflow, if this is sensible

I usually:

1. Identify desired component from a vendor

2. Go to Ultralibrarian to download it's footprint, and often 3d model

3. Go within library manager in Fusion to attach a separate 3d model to the footprint (as it does not have a 3d model normally attached)

library attach.PNG

4. Insert said component to schematic.

5. Manipulate in PCB document.

6. Push to 3d.

Most of the components come out fine, the 5 pin molex and diode fail.  I have re-inserted them after removal, and placed in library.io, I get the same outcome, 3d model not present.

Here is a link to the files for the schematic and pcb document if you wish to manipulate it.

General questions:

Is there intrinsic value in having the 3d model with each component, i.e. when the overseas vendor makes the board, are they generally OK with missing a few 3d models in the design?

Is a "library" able to come in, from a website, with it's 3d model?

Thanks!

Hi @ea425019
I'm not entirely sure that this is a permission issue.
This message:
"Cannot access 3D package in Fusion Team. This issue can happen if the package is still being processed or if you don't have access permission..."
can happen for other reasons of failure as well.  And I don't think this is related to library.io.

The workflow you described here sounds like the right workflow.
So, are you saying that for the model not working, you manually uploaded a 3D model file, then attached it to the footprint yourself?  And at some point, then instead of seeing the model you started getting the error and seeing a box?
One possible way might be if you deleted the model file from the data panel.  I know we are working on some improvements to better communicate when model assets being used have been deleted, it isn't handled well.

I am digging further into what " due to possible network or server issue" can mean, I haven't seen that message yet.  It's possible that message also needs some communication improvements.

For the package / model that ended up missing, did you follow the same steps you described above? Is it possible the model got deleted?  Have you tried deleting the package then uploading a new model and attaching it to the footprint?

Issues like this can also happen if the Model and your Library are in different Teams.

Thanks,
Chris
