Editing footprint in Fusion 360

In Fusion 360 when I open a library and try to edit a footprint it tells me I have to create a local copy. When I do that I don't see the normal footprint editor that Eagle had, it's more of a CAD designer for changing the 3D package. How do I get to the footprint editor in Fusion 360?

Hi @infinite.machinery,

I think you may be mixing footprint and 3D package. In Fusion360 editing a 3D package will be bring up the editor you are describing.

If you specifically open a footprint you get an editor similar to EAGLE's.

Could you post a picture of what you are seeing?

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Here's a picture of the interface I'm seeing. The only edit option attached to the 3D icon. I don't see any way to edit a device like you can in Eagle.

I think part of my problem is that I can't figure out a way to edit libraries in F360. Everything seems to be in read-only mode.

Hi @infinite.machinery

if you double click on one of the entries in the footprint list you will see the footprint in the drawing window and you can edit it.

Hope this helps.
