Digital Watermark in Design Files

Hello,

is it possible to insert a digital watermark into the design file header (brd, fbrd, sch, lib, ...)?

This feature would be very appreciated in order to simplify handling usage licenses of design files we provide to our customers.

Best,

Simon

Hi @s_benkner,

I hope you're doing well. This is an interesting suggestion, we don't currently have anything like that. We rely more on Fusion Hub management to control how users can't access your data (read-only, download, etc.).

Could you elaborate more on the use case? Our file format is XML (text based) so a watermark could potentially be defeated  by editing the file directly in a text editor.

I'll get this up the chain.

Thank you, for your reply. The use case is the following: We develop electronics for third party customers. Similar to our software products we license our developments. In this regard it is very interesting for us to set some kind of a licence to prevent distribution of files.

Best, Simon

Hi.

Here is product documentation regarding user permission levels:
https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=FT-ROLES-FOLDER-LEVEL

If the project you are sharing with vendors is not set up for folder level permissions, you might need this page.

https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=FT-UPGRADE-PROJECTS

Here is a graphic showing an educational setup. Notice how some folders have different permissions levels.

Thanks Phil!
Actually, what I am looking for goes beyond simple folder permissions. I am looking for some area within the xml files (*.sch, *.brd, *.lib) that will not be overridden when importing the file again to Fusion or any other software.

That is a question for @jorge_garcia . I am a design QA and not a developer. I don't know what is possible but it sounds like what you want is not available now and would need to be developed in the future.

Thanks.

Hello @s_benkner,

I hope you're doing well. Like Phil mentioned we don't have a such a feature yet, I have documented it so that it will be considered for prioritization and implementation.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
