Design Manager Filter Fields - Fusion

When using the Design Manager Filter and the Inspector to change many components at once I am having a difficult time understanding the definitions of the Fields.  

Some are obvious like ObjectType, Name, or Value but there are about 20 available.  I do not know the definition of about half of them.  Many do not make sense to me.  X, Y, HasPin?  

HasAttribute returns components that have a particular Field name.  Not the entry in the Field.  For ex one our Fields is Company Part Number.  Every part we create in our Library has the Field Company Part Number and therefore every part in the schematic is returned.  

Is there a way to filter on the contents of an Attribute?

I hope you're doing well. All of the Has fields just search for the existence of a particular characteristic. The Position X and Y look for components with a specific X or Y coordinate for example. There is currently no mechanism for searching based on the attribute value. You could possibly use the BOM for this, it might make it easier to find components with certain company part numbers.

I'll put this in as an enhancement request.

The reason I ask is this. Let's say you have 25 10k resistors in the
schematic. I want to change all of them at once. Assuming the schematic
has many different resistor values I can select all of the resistors by
using the Name filter in the Expression box and while that is helpful it is
not enough. .

I have attached a screenshot of the Design Manager. It raises two
questions.

The Value Field only contains information I enter in the schematic which I
rarely do. I use Fusion differently than the default. I have to define
each component individually so I can assign our internal part number to it
which then links to our MRP system.

The field Component Name has the >VALUE information I load when creating a
new part in my custom Library. BUT when I create a part I put the >VALUE
information on Info Layer. I do this so I can turn it off because it has
so many characters. I want the ATTRIBUTE info to be visible. Is this why
I do not see it in the Value field as I expect?

Hi @squigleyZWHQC ,

I hope you're doing well. If you have a created a user VALUE attribute then currently that will be automatically consumed into the value field. So the filter would still be able to act on it. So for example in the Filter you would put

Name = R* 

AND Value = 10k

That would get you the 25 resistors you are interested in.

The only time that is true is when I enter 10k using the Value Command
while editing the schematic. The screenshot I sent you shows that most
Value cells are empty because I have a custom library. The only time the
Value cells contain an actual value is when I enter them while editing the
schematic.

Hi @squigleyZWHQC ,

For some reason the image isn't loading in the forums. I'm referring to something different. 

In the library, you can create an attribute (same as MPN, or Manufacturer, or whatever) called VALUE. The value of this VALUE attribute will override the empty value field in the schematic. In this way you can benefit from all of the custom attributes you may already have and still have a useful component VALUE that is not user editable to avoid confusion.

I have it now and I can get what I want. The details are parts creation is
very challenging to get from any manual. Especially when you don't know
what problems you are going to encounter until you start expanding your
knowledge of the tool. I had not used Design Manager to filter for
specific parts.
