Components not snapping to same grid

I try to use the grid to make sure the distance between my components is equal. Sadly, the components (even of the same type) seem to snap to different grids that are not visible to me or at least they use an origin that is not understandable for me. An example is the picture below, where I have three components with the same 0201 footprints that are all not aligned with the grid in the background and aren't even on the same grid (this is the best alignment I can get with grid snapping). The grid I use in the background is a 1.05 mm (0.2 mm) grid, as you can see from the second image attached. What am I doing wrong here? After my understanding, the components should snap to the grid with the origin defined in the footprint editor (which I checked for all footprints) but they obviously don't seem to do that.

Hi @jason_frauchigerWC7YH,

I hope you're doing well. When placing the components make sure you were not accidentally pressing the ALT key since that invokes the alternate grid which in your case is almost 5 times smaller. It might be a good idea to turn on the grid lines and that will probably show clearly that the parts have been placed on an alternate grid.

Just another tip, the alternate grid and standard grid should be related by an integer multiple otherwise they can never line up. In your case I would recommend either dropping the default grid to 1mm or changing your alt grid to 0.21mm.
