Can I Use A photo as a symbol in an electrical schematic?

As the title suggests, I NEED to be able to import a photo and use that as an electrical symbol and add pins to it.  I do not see a way and we hate to go back to solidworks just for this.  Is this possible or not?  After much googling i am thinking not but figured id ask thanks!

Maybe you can explain why you want that.
Perhaps there's another solution or workaround for your purpose.

You can import a bitmap image to create an electrical symbol. Most electrical and electronic symbols are easy to draw so going with a photo seems like overkill. Like @Evert_2N3055 said though, with more information  we can guide you better on what to do.

we make end user friendly diagrams in which instead of schematic 2d sumbols in solidworks we can easily add a bitmap and add pins to it to represent in the diagram and connect terminals etc and we would love to ditch solidworks and use fusion since it has electrical diagram capabilities.  But not if we cant use bitmaps.

how?  I am not seeing a way to add a bitmap to the diagram and assign pins.  Only line drawing type symbols.

Hello @gary1854,

I hope you're doing well. In order to import bitmap you use the import-bmp-simple.ulp that comes with Fusion. Easiest way to access the ULPs is by typing the word RUN followed by the <enter key> in the electronics CLI. In the dialog that pops up look for import-bmp-simple.ulp.

Keep in mind that this works best when you use monochrome bitmaps. Whatever bitmaps you pick, make sure they are black and white and then just save them as Monochrome Bitmaps (2-color).

Thanks!   Progress.  I can get that to open up the import dialog.   Not ideal.  But I’m trying a simple black and white bmp saved as 2 color mono chrome.   It generates the script then I click run script  and get an error “can’t find bmp.scr” but that’s not the name of the file I selected??   I also tried the bmp import not simple same thing.

Would you be willing to share the file for review? I want to make sure the format is correct. Import-bmp-simple.ulp should be able to get you what you need.

I tried and saw the same error at first. After some digging I think the problem is the ulp can't find the file path if the document is not saved. So the workaround is to save the document before you run the script. @gary1854 please check if this works for you.
