BUG? - The NAME In the Browser Tree for a 3DPCB shows the wrong Name?

HI,

The NAME in the Browser tree for a 3D PCB currently show the FOOTPRINT Name.

Should this be the DEVICE name instead?

Also,

The Descriptions ( from the device in the  LIBRARY) do not get copied across into the Description Field of the Properties Window.

Thanks

Hi @ImDaveM ,

What you should see in the 3D PCB is the reference designator and the package name. This is similar to how the 2D PCB operates.

As time goes on more and more info will make it's way to the 3D PCB.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for the reply,

I brought up this issue many many months ago, but still haven't seen any improvements.

Its very important to get all the components identified during the design process.

I need to allocate the components with "REAL" part numbers from my inventory system, So i know that i am using the correct part.

I take the time to make sure that the DEVICE & DESCRIPTION fields in my Component Library are set, I also do this when designing the SCh and board.

As I do this and i check my progress in the 3D PCB View ( which i Love!) I can see that i have assigned all the correct parts, but, as the system current only shows the FOOTPRINT NAME and REF DESIGNATOR, which is not wrong , but the description and part number should be there in the properties of the device in 3D PCB View.

I really need Autodesk to rectify/improve this small but important issue very soon!

Thanks
