Hi.

Let's say I have a electronic design that includes schematic, pcb and 3d pcb.

Let's say also that I want to delete my current pcb from the design because I've changed my mind and I need to produce a new, different pcb profile.

If you unlink the pcb from from the electronic design and close everything you won't be able to delete both 2d/3d pcb files, unless you delete the main design file first.

This force you to start from scratch every time you need to do a major change on the pcb side, creating a new design file, link a schematic etc etc.

Also We should be able to force breaking relations between file if needed, in the same way we have the command "break link" in the 3d design space. That would spare a lot of frustration specially for new users until the right workflow is assimilated.

Hello @Matthz ,

Thank you for your feedback. If you right click the item in the browser of the electronic design, you can see a "remove...link" command. Is this what you want?

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. You'll notice that the 3D PCB needs to be unlinked from the Electronic Design document as well.

With cloud data there is always the fear of referencing something that doesn't exist anymore so deleting can sometimes be difficult. If you unlink both, you can move those files to a "trash" folder and then just link new assets to the electronic design document.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi Jorge

Yes that's exactly what I'm saying, if you unlink both the 2d/3d pcb files and you try to delete them you just can't because for the cloud these appear still referenced in a design, even if the panel Used IN says "This item is not referenced by any other designs", hence the bug.

The only way to delete the files is to delete first (after unlinking all the files) the Electronic Design file as well.

And this is one reason that maybe adding a command like force unlink or freeze that might be handy.

Can some advice how to delete electronic design  ?

I have all documents in one folder and it can`t be deleted as single file from that folder - it shows that some files it`s still referenced . But in project file I have only schematic (PCB was unlinked ) . In PCB design 3D pcb was also unlinked .

You really need to delete the files one by one, starting from the
electronic design, then schematics and everything else, and finally the
folder

Thanks . But still it`s not obvious why I can`t delete folder with all linked documents - to much time for delete operation ...
